I went shopping yesterday for clothes….and got diverted to Sur La Table.
Found these adorable pie birds, popularized in the Victorian Era, they are used vent double crusted pies.
I see more pie in my future! (and yours as well!)

I’ve updated my Twitter! Send me a baking question! Or just say hello!
And I have a fancy new logo! You’ll see this on the blog, Facebook, and everywhere in between. Including packaging…

In the culinary world, mise en place is a saying used for putting things in place, before you begin your culinary adventure. So this is my mise en place, about me!
I knew I wanted to bake when I was in high school, after school I used to go to the local Williams-Sonoma, in awe of the kitchenware.
One day, I skipped class (sorry mom!) to catch a glimpse of Martha Stewart signing her book, The Baking Handbook. I snatched a copy.
The rest as they say is history.
So in April of 2011, began Dash of Dan. A blog to share what I bake, a space to learn, and interact with you!

I’m a Lower East Side (NYC) native, baking my way through my early 20’s.
I’m a full-time student and work at two local bakeries.
When I’m not blogging here, I’m guest posting at Taylor Marsh every Saturday (because sometimes you need a break from politics).

I currently sell cookies at a local sandwich shop, Tiny’s!
Oh and there is Clark. He’s the all-around adorable cat, you’ll see posted.
(No he doesn’t help me bake.)
Lastly, Thank You for joining me here!
You can catch more Dash of Dan at:
How is everyone?!
How was your Halloween?
(I might have popped one too many mini-candy bars that night)
Again I appreciate all feedback, plus I want to know how you’re doing!
